Structured Pedagogy Guides: How to Improve Foundational Literacy and Numeracy
The task of improving foundational literacy and numeracy outcomes in low- and middle-income countries hinges on raising the quality of teaching and supporting the instructional decision-making of individual teachers. Structured pedagogy programs – specifically designed, coherent packages of investments that work together to improve classroom teaching – have shown an ability to support teachers to make those individual pedagogical decisions at large scale and that those changes can have a large impact on learning outcomes.

What are the specific components and tasks essential to effective structured pedagogy interventions that we must consider?

Please join us in a conversation as we release a series of how-to guides that provides practical guidance for designing and managing effective structured pedagogy programs at-scale.

These how-to guides were developed by RTI International and are based on research funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation through the Implementing the Science of Teaching grant. The goal of the three-year grant is to provide data, evidence, and innovation to improve foundational literacy and numeracy outcomes in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
