"Harriet" Virtual Film Screening
The School of Humanities, Education, Social & Behavioral Sciences at Saint Augustine’s University, Raleigh, N.C., in cooperation with RTI International and the Saint Augustine’s University Film Club, will present a virtual film screening of “HARRIET” on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Following the film, a panel of SAU faculty - Dr. Hasan Crocket, Associate Professor of Political Science; Dr. Shirlkeymu Winston, Assistant Professor of History; and Dr. Dino Bryant, Assistant Professor of History – will discuss the film’s content and take questions from online viewers.

HARRIET is a biopic that follows Tubman on her escape from enslavement and subsequent missions to free dozens of other enslaved people through the Underground Railroad in the face of growing pre-Civil War adversity. Directed by Kasi Lemmons (“Eve's Bayou”), HARRIET stars Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom, Jr., Joe Alwyn, Clarke Peters, and Janelle Monáe.

Pre-registration is required for the virtual film. The first 25 registrants will receive free refreshments to enjoy while watching the film, and prizes will be awarded to registrants chosen at random at the end of the film.
